There are a few issues I have with Disqus but overall it's great. Read A VC: Three Reasons To Use Disqus - There's a few things in the pipeline such as post pings & trackbacks which will be usefull.

Testing 1 2 3 ... If you want to circumvent the whole leaving-name-and-email-address thing, get your own account at http://disqus.com . That will log you into comment forms automatically.
Otherwise, I think it looks pretty neat...

I can think of one reason to use Disqus - No more DB calls needed for your blog to pull out comments. Can only help if you're running WordPress :)
Threaded replies (forgot the plugin name) and emailed responses aren't new. Subscribe To Comments for WP has been around for a while. What I DO like is the common-profile thing. Now I can track all my comments on the Disqus platform from one place - which seriously rocks.
